Mazzarri | “We Were Never Alone”

Walter Mazzarri issued a heartfelt message of thanks to supporters and players ahead of what will be his final game in the Watford dugout this weekend.

The Hornets’ departing Head Coach moved to show his gratitude while addressing the media this afternoon ahead of Sunday’s game with Manchester City.

“I would like to thank the main characters of this season – the players and the fans,” said Mazzarri.

“Our fans have always been extraordinary with their participation and with their fantastic passion for the whole season.

“They have been unique and we were never alone or without them. I want to thank them in the most sincere way.

“I would really like all of them to read what I have written in Sunday’s matchday programme because those are my sincere feelings, my real emotions and what I felt throughout the season.

“Also I thank the players, who have always given 200 per cent of what they had, always going further and pushing their limits.”

Mazzarri also moved to distance himself from quotes attributed to him in the Spanish press following the announcement of his departure from Vicarage Road.

“I have not released any further communication with any press since the statement from the club,” he said.

“Any quotes or declarations you have read from any journalist since the club statement are not true.”

Sir Elton's GT Bench Unveiled

A bench commissioned by Sir Elton John in memory of the late Graham Taylor was officially unveiled yesterday.

The bench - which has been paid for by former Watford chairman Sir Elton - can be found in Cassiobury Park and features a plaque containing the message:

"In loving memory of my friend Graham Taylor. Much loved. Elton. 15.09.44 - 12.01.17"

Graham's wife Rita was present at the unveiling, as well as their daughter Karen Colley, family friends and mayor Dorothy Thornhill.

Four magnolia trees have also been planted around the bench and dedicated to Graham, again paid for by Sir Elton.
