Watford head into tomorrow’s clash with Southampton at Vicarage Road looking for a much needed new year pick-me-up in the Premier League.

It was not a very merry Christmas for the Golden Boys as they suffered home defeats to Huddersfield and Swansea and came away with nothing on trips to Burnley, Crystal Palace and Brighton. A morale boosting win over Leicester City showed the side's truest shade.

Making Vicarage Road a fortress in the second half of the season is something Richarlison feels will make a huge difference to the Hornets' campaign, starting against the Saints .

“It’s a negative moment right now,” Richarlison admitted.

“We need to always look for that victory, starting from Saturday.

“We just have to keep improving and concentrating, especially in the final moments of matches and starting on Saturday we need to move back [up the table].”

Despite the recent dip in form it has been a fantastic start to life in England for the 20-year-old Brazilian. He has had a hand in many of Watford’s goals this season with an impressive five goals and eight assists overall in the league so far.

It’s safe to say the forward has certainly been a stand-out player for the Golden Boys so far and when questioned on his start to life at Vicarage Road, he was quick to thank those around him for his success.

“It’s going fantastically, it’s incredible. All my teammates are very helpful, I have a lot of great friends here.

“Overall it’s going absolutely great, I’m adapting well to the league and I have to thank God as well for the opportunity."
