It’s very attractive; when Mr Pozzo called me I was excited. It’s a new adventure for me, a new challenge, and I’m really hungry for this opportunity

Switzerland international Valon Behrami has spent the majority of his professional career playing in Europe’s top divisions, including Germany, Italy and England.

The energetic midfielder played for Lazio between 2005 and 2008, featuring 77 times before transferring to the Premier League and West Ham United.

After a successful spell with The Hammers, Behrami returned to Italy where he joined Fiorentina in January 2011. By July 2012 he was plying his trade at fellow Serie A team Napoli where he featured in the 2013/14 Coppa Italia final victory against his former club.

A move to the Bundesliga was later agreed which saw the Midfielder turn out for Hamburger SV for one season prior to being introduced as a Watford player in July 2015. Despite injury problems the Yugoslavia-born midfielder made over 20 Premier League appearances in his debut season for the Hornets.

With over 70 caps to his name, Behrami has been a prominent member of the Swiss team over the last decade, making the squad at three FIFA World Cup tournaments and two European Championships in 2008 and 2016.
