It’s going to get so much harder, but I’m ready for the challenge

Alex Jakubiak, a Watford graduate, signed a professional deal with the Hornets in 2014 after finishing as top scorer for the Hornets' Under-18s and in the Under-21 Premier League Cup campaign in 2013/14, with 23 goals. His good form was rewarded at the end of the season with a place in Watford’s starting XI for the final day match with Huddersfield Town.

Loan spells at Oxford United and Dagenham & Redbridge yielded five Sky Bet League 2 goals for the front-man, who cut his teeth in the physically demanding fourth tier of league football.

Upon returning to Watford during the summer of 2015, Jakubiak's professional contract was extended by a further year. The highly-regarded youngster scored 21 goals for the Under 21s, earning him the club's 2015/16 Development Player of the Season award.

Jakubiak spent loan spells with Fleetwood Town and Wycombe Wanderers in 2016/17, scoring once for the Chairboys in League Two, and then agreed a switch to Falkirk in January 2018, signing on loan for the Scottish Championship side for the rest of the season. It was a fruitful spell north of the border, with Jakubiak scoring seven times in 18 games.

The striker spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Bristol Rovers, scoring five times, before joining Gillingham on loan for the first half of the 2019/20 campaign, scoring seven times. In January 2020, he joined St Mirren on a loan until the end of the season.
